It is Carnival time in Trinidad & Tobago… the festival of colour and celebrations, playing mas and partying in the streets to the sweet, sweet sounds of Calypso and Soca music, and the beautiful tunes of the Steelpan.
The Steelpan/Steeldrum is the only percussion instrument of the 20th Century, originating here in Trinidad & Tobago, and our National Instrument.
As part of a Paper Mache (Papier-mâché) short course recently, a friend created this little guy, depicting the season and the beautiful instrument.
He’s now part of the Trinidad and Tobago Art Society Carnival exhibition “Blocko”, which is running from 9th to the 21st of February, 2015.
Go check it out 🙂

Your friend is quite talented! Love steel pan music (admittedly yours is the best ever) and think it’s one of the things everyone associates with Trinidad immediately. Thanks for sharing and pity I can’t make the exhibition; maybe next time I’m in TnT 😀

Yes, hopefully next time you’re visiting you can attend one of their exhibitions… they run different ones throughout the year 🙂
Thanks for stopping by 🙂 🙂
