This year started with a bang!… yes, there were the millions of fireworks that were being set off, all night, all into the morning… and then again probably for the rest of the weekend… sigh… but that’s not what I’m referring too!

We started the year off with excitement… with the partial fulfilment of another item off my Trinidad and Tobago Bucket List: A road trip to Grande Riviere!

The actual item on my Bucket List is to “Visit with the Leatherback Turtles at Grande Riviere“… but since it IS the first time I have visited, and it’s not yet Leatherback Sea Turtles nesting season [which is usually from March to August each year], I’m still counting it as a partial Fulfilment 🙂

Yay!

Although advisable to start off early (which was the original plan), we started the day around midday… but set off with the aim to enjoy our drive, no matter what!

It had been intermittently raining throughout the morning but the weather turned out perfect and the roads were free of traffic, for our drive.

We made a few stops along the way, including Cumana Bay.

We met up with our friends at Mt. Plaisir Estate Hotel & Restaurant, and fell in love with the place… the location, the food, the owner and even the guest themselves. I cannot wait to go back and visit again… so excited to be planning our return!

Even as the weather started changing, and the sun said its goodbyes, we enjoyed the ambience and our company.. and our road trip was so worth the time!

🙂

Where are you planning to explore this year?
