I dreamt a dream to visit Dream and finally, my dream came true…
Ok. That was kinda corny… But I HAVE been looking forward to going to Dream Ultra Lounge & Bar. I love Thai food and I heard that that was the featured cuisine, so I was very excited when the opportunity arose.
A couple of us decided to go for lunch last Thursday… and of course the Dream Lounge was suggested to ‘try out’.
We pack up in the car, two of us in work clothes (coveralls) and made our way to the location. For the record it is located in a side street, just off Gulf View Link Road. Upon arriving we realised that because of our attire, we may not have been allowed into the restaurant but made our way to inquire anyhow. We were told that during the lunchtimes, the dress code is not as strict as in the evenings, so we went on in 🙂
When we were approaching we noticed one security officer and two waitresses were liming (hanging out) outside, leaning against the dark grey wall of the building. The building looked very closed up (causing us to question if we were in the correct location or if they were even open for business),. The exterior walls were painted this dark coloured but the outside veranda included orange cushioned seating – a statement burst of colour. This peaked our curiosity even more, wondering what it really would looked like on the interior.
The inside of the restaurant was nothing like we expected. It was dark and enclosed but with dim and sufficient lighting; just enough to give you a romantic or even a calming effect. We were given the choice of the lounge (downstairs) or the restaurant like tables (upstairs) and opted for the lounge area where we were ushered to our seats.
The menu was presented to us and we were advised that the portions in some cases could cover two or more persons. Very good to know, especially since as mentioned, we were on our lunch break and aiming to get the most of this time.
Everything was delicious! Spicy but delicious!! To be fair, we were verbally warned by our waitress of what was spicy and what wasn’t.
The Bruschetta was actually ordered in the end to help with this pepper kick. Not the best, however, as it tasted like bread with tomatoes and not the toasted seasoned flavour we were expecting. A bit of a let down, but it did help with the spicy kick.
We found out after that new menus had been printed so as too identify the different levels of ‘hotness’ – the levels included: mild, spicy/hot and Thai suicide. This is a positive improvement for their menu, assisting the patrons to choose the ‘right choice’ for them!
We even had the wonderful opportunity to be visited by one of the Dream Lounge chefs; Chef Michael – also very exciting! He is very down-to-earth, yet business-like and very professional.
Thank-you to the staff at Dream Lounge and Bar for making our visit very memorable. Your Customer Service ranks very high and we look forward to returning in the very near future.
My overall experience with Dream Lounge & Bar was 4.0 stars out of 5.
